How I Stopped Overthinking and Started My Own Business
For those of you who’ve been following Laid Off Life since the beginning, you know that after 8 years as a digital and social content executive at a major corporate media company, I found myself at a crossroads after being laid off.
While I was cycling through all 8 stages of being unemployed (extended vacay, unfounded confidence, LinkedIn obsession, navel gazing, doing ME finally), I had a lot of time to reflect on what my next move would be. For a good 6 months, I had no clue. I applied for lots of jobs I didn’t really want, tried not to let the rejection destroy me, got woo woo about it thinking maybe the universe would just tell me what to do next. Spoiler alert: it didn’t. But somewhere along the way, I befriended my fears, flirted with the idea of self-employment, and finally gave myself permission to stop overthinking and take that leap and here I am—Founder of Align Digital + Social.
If you're wondering why I haven’t talked about my business until now, well, that’s because I wanted to take my time. I wanted to experiment, work with clients, and figure out what they really needed before shouting from the rooftops, “Hey world, I’m a business owner!” One year later, I’ve learned so much, and I’m excited to finally share Align Digital + Social with all of you.
For the past 15 years, I’ve helped major brands navigate the chaotic, always-changing world of digital and social media. During my recent career crisis, I found so much insight and clarity by working with coaches who helped me cut through my internal noise—so I decided to create a business that does the same for others.
